EDSOGPADEC to commence work on Benin-Abraka road
Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC) has disclosed that plans have been concluded to ensure that contractors return to site to continue work on the reconstruction of the 105.6km Benin-Abraka road.
Governor Godwin Obaseki had initiated the project through a deal with the state government, EDSOGPADEC and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Permanent Secretary of EDSOGPADEC, James Ufumwen, confirmed that the commission had, in a recent meeting, decided to commence work on the project.
The road project would receive attention after initial delay when the NDDC failed to honour its part of the agreement on the reconstruction of the road.
With the new drive by EDSOGPADEC, thousands of people who ply the road from Benin to Abraka would heave a sigh of relief, as there had been repeated complaints in the past over the state of the road.
A resident in Aifuwa Street, Benin City, Mrs. Dorothy Asemota, commended EDSOGPADEC over the decision to commence work on the road, noting that it would address the hardship people who ply the road were facing.
