Effective use of speed limit device will slash road crashes, says Ambode
Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode, says effective deployment of the proposed speed limit device would significantly address the current challenges of speed related crashes in road traffic accidents in the country.
Ambode dropped the hint at the stakeholders’ forum on speed limiting device, recently organised by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in continuation of its public sensitization programme on the implementation of the speed-limiting device.
In a statement by the head of media relations and strategy, Bisi Kazeem, FRSC disclosed that Ambode, who spoke through Prince Anofiu Elegushi, noted that the increasing rate of road traffic crashes and fatalities from speed related crashes in the country task stakeholders on necessary measures to address the menace.
He gave assurances that Lagos State government remains committed to the introduction and effective implementation of the speed-limiting device as a control mechanism against speed violation and resultant road crashes.
Earlier in his presentation titled, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, said as a country that depends highly on road transportation for over 90 percent of movement of people and goods, Nigeria cannot afford the current threats from speed related crashes.
