The English Football League (EFL) has issued an interim update on disciplinary proceedings involving Southampton following Tuesday’s Championship Play-Off Semi-Final second leg, confirming that an Independent Disciplinary Commission hearing is expected to take place on or before Tuesday, 19 May.
According to the EFL, “the Commission will issue its decision as soon as possible following consideration of the relevant submissions and evidence,” though the governing body stressed it does not control the timetable of the independent panel overseeing the case.
Despite the ongoing uncertainty, the EFL says it is continuing preparations for the Championship Play-Off Final to go ahead as scheduled on Saturday, 23 May, with kick-off set for 4:30pm. However, it warned that “the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings may yet result in changes to the fixture,” adding that contingency plans are in place, including considerations around any potential appeal process.
On ticketing, both Hull City and Southampton are expected to release further details on their respective sales arrangements later today as supporters await clarity on the final fixture status.
