EGO Foundation empowers women entrepreneurs in Lagos

In its ongoing mission to empower women entrepreneurs, the Enterprise, Growth & Opportunities (EGO) Foundation has unveiled an initiative called Project SheEnabled.
The latest edition of this initiative took place in Mushin market and was part of a series of similar projects in the region.
EGO Foundation’s team lead, members, and volunteers descended upon the market to distribute multilingual pamphlets titled “Bookkeeping Made Easy.” These pamphlets aim to help businesswomen keep track of their sales and stock more effectively. Many of these women previously stored such crucial information solely in their heads, which could pose challenges when seeking funds to grow their businesses.
During the in-house session, over 250 women were educated on the importance of maintaining written or computerized records of their sales and stock.
The Executive Director of EGO Foundation, Toluwase Olaniyan,  emphasised the critical aspect of business management.
Also, a representative from Access Bank, Oladapo Folorunsho,  engaged the women in discussions on how proper record-keeping could help them secure grants and loans to boost their businesses.
One of the highlights of the event was the distribution of five Point of Sale (POS) machines. This generous gesture aimed to streamline business transactions and enhance digital literacy and financial inclusion among the women entrepreneurs. Notably, Lawal Ramota Bolanle and Medinat Amoo were among the deserving recipients of these POS machines.
Isinguzo Uzoma, a representative from the renowned tomato paste brand Topisco, and a familiar voice from Wazobia FM, also showed support for the cause. She delivered an extensive talk on women’s empowerment and shared valuable insights to help women excel in a competitive market.
The event concluded with the recognition of excellence, as Oreoluwa Ashabi Taiwo received a cash prize for her outstanding participation and versatility during the in-house session, palliatives were distributed to market women to alleviate the economic impact on the local population.
