As Muslims celebrate this year’s Eid-el –Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fast, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Gabriel Dewan, has emphasised the need to sustain prayers and other good virtues exhibited during the holy month to build an egalitarian society.

Dewan, in a message yesterday, rejoiced with Muslims for successfully ending the month-long Ramadan fast and the Sallah festival.

He said, “Almighty Allah must be praised for keeping the Muslim faithful throughout the 30-day fasting period, which he described as a spiritual exercise that deepens the relationship between the faithful and their Creator.”

He enjoined citizens to use their diversity as a source of unity and strength, calling on youths to remain committed to constituted authorities and champion the course of peace, unity, and development in the society.

Dewan, who called for support for the Governor Caleb Mutfwang led-administration, also used the occasion to assure Muslims in the state and indeed, all citizens of Plateau generally, that the welfare of the people remained the priority of the current leadership of the State Assembly .

According to him, “We would continue to partner with the state government to provide quality legislation to the people of the state”.

He reiterated the commitment of the State Assembly to come up with quality legislation to support the governor to deliver his campaign promises to the people of Plateau.

Dewan prayed to Almighty Allah to answer the prayers and accept the supplications made by the Muslim Ummah during the holy month of Ramadan for themselves, families, Plateau State and the nation at large .

He further called for support of government and leaders at all levels to succeed, charging religious and community leaders to continue to preach peace and unity among their people.

For his constituents in Pankshin North, Dewan  promised to continue to  provide more dividends of democracy to them.
