About eight people were killed, while 15 others sustained injuries in an auto crash, involving three commercial vehicles in Jajimaji, Birniwa Local Council of Jigawa State.
The Guardian gathered that the incident, which occurred in the night last Sunday, involved vehicles conveying traders to Jajimaji and Hadejia markets.
Secretary of Birniwa Branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mal Baba, in a statement, yesterday, confirmed that its officials visited the scene and conveyed the remains of the deceased persons to their families for burial, while those who sustained injuries were taken to Birniwa General Hospital for medical attention.
He said the accident resulted from the collision of three vehicles, namely: Golf, J5 and Hilux (Akuri-kura), while the passengers were indigenes of Birniwa Local Council of Jigawa State.
Mal Baba added that Birniwa Local Council Chairman, Umar Baffa, attended the funeral of the deceased persons at Makari village, in Fagi Ward of Birniwa council.
Baffa also visited the injured at Birniwa General Hospital and sponsored those with fractured bones to Nguru Medical Centre, for treatment. He cautioned commercial drivers against night driving to avoid further casualties.
