Security expert, Dr. Ona Ekhomu, was last Saturday installed as High Chief Ogbeni of Irrua Kingdom by the Ogirrua and Okaijesan of Esanland, (Zaiki) Alhaji W. Okoeguale Momodu II JP.

At the ceremony, the Ogirrua praised Ekhomu for his contribution to Esan land in particular and Nigeria at large, citing his consistent and relentless promotion of security awareness and consciousness among Nigerians.

He recalled that Ekhomu had been the Ogbeni of Irrua for over 20 years, noting that he decided to upgrade Ekhomu to high chief to reward his contributions in the security sector, nationally and internationally.

The monarch said Ekhomu has consistently offer expert advice to government on how to tackle the challenges of insecurity in the country and urged him to continue the good work.

Speaking at a reception after his installation, Ekhomu pledged to redouble his efforts at promoting the culture of security and safety awareness consciousness and action among Nigerians, pledging to use his international stature to attract foreign investments to Nigerian to create employment for the citizens.

He decried the killings in Southern Kaduna and called on the federal government to meet its part of the social contract by keeping citizens safe and governments at all levels to employ advanced risk mapping tools to obtain fore-knowledge of risks and be able to mitigate them before they become loss events.

He stated that the security situation in Southern Kaduna and constant shedding of blood there denotes weak governance at all levels and called for a redesign of the security architecture of rural communities.
