The Ekiti State Government has begun closure of private nursery and primary schools in the state over non- compliance with extant rules regulating the establishment of private schools.

The government said it has set up a task force that would monitor operations and activities of all private schools in conformity with international best practices.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Foluso Daramola disclosed this when he paid an unscheduled visit to some private schools last Friday.

Daramola, who ordered immediate closure of Home of God Nursery and Primary School in Aremu area of Ado-Ekiti , for operating without valid approval, warned proprietors not to test government’s will by flouting its laws.

The Commissioner decried the dilapidated structure and filthy environment in which the school operated.

He revealed government had earlier closed three private schools in January this year.

He said: “ The government will, henceforth, prosecute proprietors of schools found culpable of disobeying the laws put in to regulate the establishment of private schools in this state.”

He advised parents and guardians to also ensure they enroll their children and wards in clean, conducive and decent environment for proper learning.
