The Ekiti State Police Command has reacted to a tragic incident that led to the death of two students and a hotel staff member in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Michael, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident, which occurred at Emirate Hotel.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the students, who were from Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, had gathered at the hotel for a post-convocation celebration on April 18, 2026.

The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited in a morgue for autopsy.
CP Adegoroye expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims and urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, said the Command is working to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
