Ekiti State government has warned the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone D against staging anti-government rally in the state.

The Deputy Governor, Prof. Olusola Eleka, gave the warning yesterday when he addressed students of tertiary institutions in state.

According to him, it is illegal for anybody to come from outside the state to protest and disrupt the peace being enjoyed by the residents.

NANS zonal chairman and treasurer had in a statement, disclosed plans to stage a mass protest, if the government fails to address the case of lecturers of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), who are currently on strike.

Olusola said: “There is this information that some people who are non-stakeholders in education in Ekiti are coming as a result of the illegal support that they enjoined from the opposition political parties.

“They are planning to protest against this government. But I am highly pleased that you have shown to the whole world that you don’t have any problem with the government.

“To those who are planning to protest against the government, let me warned them that it is illegal and unethical to disrupt our state, even as they don’t have the consent of the students’ leaders in Ekiti.

He disclosed that the issues raised by the zone D of NANS had been resolved.

He explained: “Those who had been rusticated from the higher institutions, but are still parading themselves as students’ leaders are the ones being used by the opposition to cause crisis in the state.

“Many of the issues have been resolved; the delay in salary payment was caused by bad economy under Preisident Muhammadu Buhari.
