Elan to push for PPP in water sector at WAWE expo

Chief executive officer of Elan Expo, West Africa, Jude Chime, is advocating a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement in the water sector to stimulate investment in infrastructure.

He asserted this at a media parley heralding the second edition of the West Africa Water Expo (WAWE 2019) billed for July 11 to 13 at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to Mr. Chime, no fewer than 100 manufacturers/investors in the water sector, including stakeholders from various finance institutions, civil society and government from different parts of the world, are expected at the expo to galvanise action towards improving access to potable water.

Recounting the success of the last edition with support from Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), Chime stated that WAWE “offers unique value to companies, associations and other industry players connected to the water expo” to serve them through huge national and international resources.

He added: “The 2019 edition will focus on providing long term and sustainable solutions to the existing challenges in the sector through PPP. The sector needs all hands on deck to stimulate growth. This is a trillion dollar industry and we are yet to scratch the surface. We need to get all hands on deck to ensure that institutions are supported to provide clean and safe water for public consumption.

“We are providing a platform through the exhibition and conferences/workshop for stakeholders in the water and waste management sectors.
