Elegbe emerges entrepreneur of the year at EY awards

Chief Executive Officer of Interswitch Group, Mitchel Elegbe, has been named winner of the 2023 Ernst & Young, EY Awards.

Interswitch Group was selected from entrepreneurs to emerge the winner of the annual event, which took place at Eko Hotels and Suites.

Having started in Nigeria in 2021, Senior Partner and Head of Markets, EY West Africa, Mr. Ashish Bakhshi, noted that EY is part of a Global Award that has been recognised in 60 countries and over 120 cities.

Specifically, he explained that EY celebrates entrepreneurs to help them grow.

He revealed that Alegbe would be proceeding to represent West Africa in the global awards, which will hold on June 6 in Monaco, France for the global EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award (WEOY). He would compete with close to 60 others worldwide. Ashish added that his representation in the global awards is surely a boost for the entrepreneurship spirit of Nigerians, which is good for the economy.

For the emerging category, the founder of Nairametrics, Ugochukwu Obi-Chukwu, was the winner.

Ashish explained that EY awards is aimed at boosting companies trying to grow and doing well for the community and the society.

In his remarks, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, noted: “I commend EY for organising this award and would invite them to join the Federal Government’s functional entrepreneurial ecosystem that supports innovation, business growth in the country.”
