The Abia State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Chief Ikechi Emenike, has given an idea of a new Abia he will build if elected governor.

He listed an international airport as one of the facilities, which, he said, is overdue in the state.

The immediate past governor of the state, Senator Theodore Orji, had proposed an airport and even designated a location for it, but failed to advance it beyond site location.

His successor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, did not consider an airport a state priority.

But Emenike, a development economist, in his manifesto, tagged, ‘Rescue and Develop Abia State,’ noted that the state deserves a befitting airport to facilitate movement of people and goods, create better travel experience and enhance overall state economic development that will impact huge employment opportunities.

He stated that his government would inspire birth of a commercial bank, which will be headquartered in the state, owned and managed by state government, communities and private investors.

Beside the bank, he said the state would take advantage of extant Central Bank encouragement to stimulate creation of statewide microfinance and regional banks that would partner with full-fledged financial institution in the state.
