..says he is a hero of democracy
A socio- cultural organisation, as Umunna Lekki Association celebrated former governor of Lagos State, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, called him a hero of democracy.
Also, Professor Pat Utomi said words of wisdom and counsel of Ndubuisi Kanu can accomplish 20 books, if they were to be authored as he called on Nigerian to work towards a better Nigeria.
The group in their annual end of the year event, held in the Lekki area of Lagos State, yesterday, honour retired Air Commodore Ndubuisi Kanu, who was the first governor of Imo State and as well the former governor of Lagos State, who Ohaneze Ndigbo has also reckoned as a hero of Ndigbo and Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Pa Fred Agbayeye, called on Nigerians to emulate the legacy of Ndubuisi Kanu.
A Senior lawyer, Mr Tochukwu Onyiuke (SAN) described Ndubuisi Kanu as a true leader who did excellently well in building a beloved community between the East and the Western Nigeria and his legacies must not be allowed to die.
Former People’s Democratic Party Chairman in Lagos State, Capt. Tunji Shelle, hailed Ndubuisi Kanu as a hero of democracy, saying his monumental efforts during the fight for democracy on June 12 pro-democracy struggles, remains unforgettable.
Also a publisher of NESH Magazine and leader of Ndigbo in Nigeria, Mr. Emeka Ugwu-Oju said Ndubuisi Kanu was a man of honesty, who’s yes is yes and no is no. He called on today’s leaders to deal with fellow Nigerians with honesty, truth and transparency which were the hallmarks of Ndubuisi Kanu.
The event closed with an award of excellence in service to the family of Ndubuisi Kanu and was received by his surviving first son, Kelly Kanu.
