Lagos State Government has arraigned one Mrs. Rasheedat Adeleke before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting her 29-year-old sales lady, Miss Bukola Akinola, at the Ikotun area of the state.

Public Affairs Officer, Directorate for Citizens Right, Taiwo Ade-Balogun, in a statement, said Adeleke was arraigned on a two-count charge by the police in response to the report by the Directorate for Citizens Rights, Lagos State Ministry of Justice.

The defendant, who owns Super King Supreme Store at Ayodele Ogunkoya Street, Ikotun, allegedly assaulted and inflicted injuries on Akinola by pouring hot water on her, on May 28, at Moriano Close, Saint Savour Primary School Bus Stop, Ijegun Road, Lagos.

In count one, Adeleke and others, on May 2021, at No. 15 Adebisi Awolola, Ikotun, Lagos, did conspire together to commit felony contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant and others at large were also charged, in count two, for unlawfully assaulting Akinola by beating and pouring hot water on her contrary to Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Counsel from the Directorate for Citizens Rights, Lagos Ministry of Justice, Kafilat Oseni, said the absence of the defendant in court on Thursday, resulted in the arraignment of her 70-year-old surety, Awoniyi Fatoki, who was earlier detained at Central Criminal Investigation Department (CCID), Panti, due to the defendant’s absence in court.
