In December 2020, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) set-out to register 100 million people in three years and embarked on a massive registration drive. The plan was to enrol 2.5 million people monthly for the next three years.
Without sounding immodest, NIMC has made great strides on so many fronts in the last three years. From just over 1,000 enrollment centres and 2,000 enrolment devices across the country, NIMC, in partnership with its licensed enrolment partners, now has over 15,000 enrolment centres and over 29,000 enrollment devices deployed nationwide. This is one of the reasons enrolments have increased tremendously, with over 89 million NINs generated successfully.
We salute the transformational leadership of Engr. Aliyu A. Aziz and the entire executive leadership and staff of NIMC on this great feat. This remarkable achievement has shown that with determination, discipline, and commitment, the word impossible loses its meaning.
The journey, without doubt has its ups and downs, challenges and all, but with the support of the right people and partners, NIMC was able to overcome and achieve it set atrge
