A heavy security presence has been observed at the Lekki Tollgate area of Lagos State ahead of the fourth anniversary of the #EndSARS protest memorial on Monday morning.

Armed police operatives and other security personnel were seen stationed around the tollgate and its adjoining route. Patrol vans were also positioned in the area.

The EndSARS memorial has become an annual remembrance for Nigerian youths who demanded an end to police brutality by staging a protest at the Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020.

Previous editions of the memorial have been met with similar heavy security deployments, leading to tensions and arrests in past years.
