The search has begun for the best secondary school teacher in the country as the Nigerian Breweries plc. announced commencement of submission of entries for this year’s edition of Maltina-Teacher-of-the-Year award.

Created in 2015 and funded through NB Plc-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, the competition is to identify and celebrate exemplary teachers in public and private secondary schools across the country for their contribution and impact on developing tomorrow’s leaders.

Speaking with reporters at the kick-off of the 8th edition of the competition, the Company Secretary, NB Plc, Mr Uaboi Agbebaku, said the initiative has positively impacted teaching profession.

“Teaching is a special job and there is really no reward on earth big enough to compensate teachers for what they do. Indeed, we owe them a great deal of gratitude for the crucial roles they continue to play. So, for us, the award is an avenue to honour them.”

Agbebaku said a total of N6.5 million awaited the overall winner of the competition.
