Enugu APGA guber candidate picks running mate
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Enugu State and former Minister of Information, Frank Nweke, has nominated Dr. Ngozi Ugwuanyi as his deputy governorship candidate.
During the unveiling of Ugwuanyi, yesterday, in Enugu, Nweke described her as a great women leader and businesswoman. He stressed that there would be a lot of women local council chairmen and leaders when the party wins the governorship seat of the state in the forthcoming elections.
Nweke said: “I was looking for a woman of competence, character and she will be the most active deputy governor in Nigeria.
“Enugu is not working. The water crisis was not as bad as it is today. Everywhere you turn in the state, it has been taken over by filth. The level of insecurity has reached an all-time high, because of bad governance.”
He claimed that the current governor of the state had refused to emulate the former Premier of the Eastern Region, Dr. Micheal Okpara, who created a viable economy for the region.
“Today, not only has the government destroyed the legacy of Okpara, it has not created one,” he said.
While promising to provide sustainable housing, as well as other dividends of democracy, he called on youths of voting age and other eligible voters to register to vote.
In her acceptance speech, the deputy guber candidate thanked Nweke for nominating her, noting that she would play a major part in “building the Enugu of our dreams,” she said.
