The police in Enugu have arrested three male suspects allegedly involved in vandalising railway tracks and sleepers.

A statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Daniel Ndukwe, said the suspects were arrested alongside their operational lorries and large quantities of vandalised items.

He said the breakthrough came as a result of operational strategies and collaborative security operations, devised by the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu.

Those arrested include Chukwuma Okoye (56) and Oluchukwu Igboke (25), both of Anambra State.

They were intercepted by a joint security patrol team headed by the Officer-in-Charge of the command’s anti-kidnapping squad, at Emene Enugu, along the Enugu/Abakaliki highway.

Operatives attached to the command’s monitoring unit last month arrested one Boniface Eze of Anambra State and recovered a Mercedes 911 lorry with registration number: XC 360 UWN loaded with railway tracks and sleepers at Ezza-Nkwubor, Emene, Enugu.
