-Asks EFCC Boss To Move Case To Abuja Office

A former Commissioner for Special Duties in Enugu State, Ms. Rita Mbah, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to transfer, from its Enugu Zonal Office to its Abuja Head office, the investigation into the disbursements of N450m campaign funds, on allegation of compromised investigation, among others.

The former commissioner, under the administration of former Enugu State governor, Sullivan Chime, alleged that the EFCC, Enugu State zone, has not invited the alleged beneficiaries of the funds for questioning. In a letter to the EFCC chairman, Mbah said prior to her medical trip abroad, she had written to the Commission’s Enugu Zone, detailing the disbursement of the said N450m.

She, therefore, urged the commission to transfer the case from Enugu Zonal Office to Abuja for proper investigation in the letter through her lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN).Mbah had revealed how about N37.4m was given to INEC officers out of about N450m from the Presidential Campaign Committee during the build-up to the 2015 general election. She had explained then that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had constituted a campaign committee, in which she was made the Secretary, enabling her to make financial releases.

She expressed worry that not a single arrest has been made by the EFCC over five weeks after the receipt of the said letter, notwithstanding the revelations made.
