Experts offer free ENT care to IDPs

MEDICAL practitioners from Ear Nose Throat (ENT) Department, University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), yesterday, provided free ENT services to internally displaced persons at the International Christian Centre, Uhogua , Ovia North East in Edo State.

The Departmental Head, Dr. Amina Okhakhu, who led the team, also presented food items and other materials to the displaced persons.

Okhakhu described the gesture as a way of showing care and touching lives of innocent Nigerians displaced by insurgency in the country.

She said the materials, including food items, would not only give succour to the IDPs but make them feel at home in the state, irrespective of their states of origin.

Okhakhu said some patients were treated on the spot, while others were referred for further care.
An ENT specialist, Dr. Eustace Oseghale, said the support from UBTH ENT Department, which would be regular, is aimed at showing care and love to the IDPs.

“The IDP community was highly appreciative and the department of Ear Nose Throat Head and Neck Surgery University of Benin Teaching Hospital have promised to replenish the stock of drugs in the camp and make the free ENT care a regular event,” Oseghale said.
