To survive the economic challenges in the country, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has advised corps members deployed to the state to put on their thinking caps and devise other productive means.

The governor gave the advice at the closing ceremony of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2023 Batch B Stream 2 orientation in Kaduna,

This was as Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, approved 100 per cent increment in the allowances of NYSC members deployed to the state for their mandatory one-year service.

Speaking on the challenging economic situation in the country, Sani encouraged the corps members to “think creatively and explore unconventional avenues for personal growth beyond your service year. I have no doubt that your resourcefulness will lead to a brighter future.”

He urged them to apply the skills and knowledge acquired during the orientation in their daily lives after leaving the camp.

“To the heads of various government and private institutions in Kaduna, I implore you to embrace corps members posted to your organisations. I assure you that government remains committed in her support to the NYSC scheme in the state.

“We are all aware that the core principle of NYSC is centred around national integration. I urge you to embrace and respect the diverse cultures and traditions of your host communities,” the governor said.

In his address, the NYSC coordinator in the state, Hassan Taura, urged the corps members to uphold the ideals of the scheme and stay true to the oaths taken to make a meaningful impact in their Places of Primary Assignment (PPAs).

“To my dear corps members, you should remember that you are the future of this great country and, therefore, the knowledge and experiences you have gained are not just for personal growth, but to contribute positively to the development of our beloved nation, Nigeria,” he said.

Bello approved the raise considering the current economic realities and the overall importance of the NYSC scheme to national and state development.

He spoke, yesterday, during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 of NYSC at the Asanya Orientation Camp in KabbaBunu Local Council.

The governor also announced a donation of N37.7 million as logistics support for the corps members, as they move to their respective Places of Primary Assignment (PPAs) and called on private sector employers to prioritise their welfare.

He charged the corps members to be of good behaviour and encouraged them to embrace the spirit of ‘One Nigeria’ and treat all citizens as fellow citizens, transcending ethnic and religious boundaries.
