Fasina takes over as FUOYE Vice Chancellor

A professor of Soil Sciences at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, was yesterday inaugurated as the Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

ICPC arraigns Ekiti poly ex-rector, bursar for alleged fraud

A professor of Soil Sciences at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, was yesterday inaugurated as the Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

The new VC pledged dialogue and reconciliation with all aggrieved parties in the institution.

In his remarks, the former VC, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, urged the management, academic members of staff and the entire university community to co-operate and support the new VC.

IN another development, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned a former Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Dr. Theresa Taiwo Akande, for allegedly receiving bribe from contractors handling projects in the school.

The commission also docked a former Bursar of the school, Mr. Onaolapo Elijah Aderemi, alongside Akande, over his complicity in the alleged fraud.

The former Rector and Bursar were arraigned on a nine-count charge before the Ekiti State High Court, sitting in Ado-Ekiti, for alleged gratification and other offences while serving as public officials at the polytechnic.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice A. L. Ogunmoye granted Akande bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.

The court also granted Aderemi bail in the sum of N7 million with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till March 24, 2021 for hearing.
