Fayemi seeks 330kv substation in Ekiti
Governor Kayode Fayemi yesterday urged the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to build a 330KV substation in Ekiti to boost power supply and economic activities in the state.
Represented by the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Bamidele Faparusi, at a meeting with management of the transmission firm in Ado-Ekiti, the governor said his administration was willing to collaborate with relevant agencies to bring development to the state. He regretted that Ekiti was lagging behind in terms of spread of national developmental projects whereas its neighbours like Kogi, Osun and Ondo were benefiting.
TCN’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Usman Gur Muhammed, assured his hosts that action would be expedited to establish the facility in the state. He directed that visibility study on the 330kv project should commence immediately while his technical team begins construction of lines to link Ado Ekiti’s 132KV substation to the new 330KV power infrastructure in Akure as a short-term solution.
