FCA Ebonyi provost cautions new students against vices
Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture (FCA), Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, Professor Justina Mgbada, has warned the newly admitted students to shun vices like forgery, cultism, drug abuse, prostitution, examination malpractices and immorality.
She gave warning during the 30th matriculation ceremony of the institution yesterday, noting that any student who engages in such acts would be expelled.Mgbada congratulated the matriculating students for being among the lucky few who scaled through the selection processes and urged them to work hard, stressing that engaging in vicious activities might jeopardize their academic pursuits.
She said available statistics showed that the institution had continued to receive large number of applications for admission every year due to its academic strides.
Her words: “We urge you all to obey the rules and regulations of the institution as the University authority has zero tolerance for any nefarious acts and will apply sanctions against offenders.
“I encourage you all to be decent and shun vices like cultism, drug abuse, prostitution, exam malpractices immoral activities and forgery that may mar your sojourn in this institution. Any students found in any of this acts will be expelled and handed over to the police.”
Mgbada further advised the students to engage in sports and scholarly activities to enhance their academic performance.She listed some breakthroughs the institution has recorded during her time as provost to include infrastructure and structural development, as well as building of internal roads, among others.
The provost promised to maintain an enabling environment that would promote a conducive learning environment.She urged the students to make good use of the facilities in the institution for their academics profitability and reminded them that their primary aim of being in the institution was to acquire knowledge.Mgbada, however, thanked the staffs and students for their support to her administration since assuming office, saying being the Provost of the institution was a different experience for her.The Institution matriculated over 1000 students in National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
