The Nigerian Correctional Service, (NCoS), Federal Capital Territory, ( FCT), command, has begun an interagency simulation exercise in custodial centers as part of measures to forestall repeat attacks in the Kuje facility and others in the nation’s capital.

Public Relations Officer, FCT command, Humphrey Chukwuedo, said in a communique that the simulation training is a strategy adopted during the last meeting of security heads in FCT to evaluate the security situation in Kuje Custodial Centre and to put up adequate measures to avoid a repeat of the July 5, 2022 jail attack.

Controller of Corrections FCT Command Ahmed Ahmed who spoke to personnel at the training urged them to “always see themselves as a team and not as splinters as they can achieve more when they train together thereby making the custodial centre impenetrable.”

Ahmed also advised members of the immediate community not to panic as there would be gunshots and that such simulation exercises would be done periodically to boost the alertness of personnel.
