FCT police foil armed robbery operation, arrest suspect

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, attached to Apo Divisional Headquarters, have foiled an armed robbery operation and arrested a suspect, following a distress call received from Zone E Extension Apo Resettlement Centre.

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, attached to Apo Divisional Headquarters, have foiled an armed robbery operation and arrested a suspect, following a distress call received from Zone E Extension Apo Resettlement Centre.

     
Spokesperson for the Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Josephine Adeh, in a statement, yesterday, said the incident occurred at about  6: 00a.m.
   
According to Adeh, upon receipt of the distress call, police operatives from the division, swiftly mobilised to the scene, and the hoodlums, on sighting the police team, abandoned an ash-coloured BMW vehicle with Reg. No. ABJ 440 KX, containing three plasma televisions and two laptops, which they had stolen from one of the houses, and fled in different directions.
     
The police spokesperson added that a red Volkswagen Golf with Reg. No. LUY 899 KV, was similarly sighted around the vicinity with its engine running and that the vehicle zoomed off upon the arrival of police operatives.
   
“The operatives gave the fleeing vehicle hot chase and intercepted it at the Games village Roundabout. The driver was later identified, as one Dahiru Muazu, who was arrested alongside Halifa Hamisu. The suspects and exhibits recovered are in custody, while the investigation is in progress to arrest other fleeing suspects.
 
“While the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations, the public are enjoined to remain law-abiding, be vigilant and keep up prompt rendition of distress calls/complaints, ”she said.

MEANWHILE, the newly decorated Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Abubakar Sadiq, has handed over the duties of the office of Commissioner of Police, FCT Command to the most senior officer at the Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Ahmed Musa, following his recent promotion to the rank of AIG and subsequent posting to a new duty post.

He has similarly directed that all communications should be forwarded to the DCP pending the posting of a new CP to the Command.
