As Nigeria joins the rest of the Muslim world to celebrate the Eid el-Fitri today, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has assured of adequate security during the festivities.

The permanent secretary (PS), Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, called on residents, especially the Muslim faithful, to use the occasion to pray for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term in office.

In his Sallah message yesterday, Ohaa enjoined FCT residents to pray for peace, social harmony and prosperity in Nigeria.

A statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tony Ogunleye, the PS assured residents that the administration had put machinery in motion for the security of lives and property.

He enjoined them to be on the alert and bring to the notice of law enforcement agencies any attempt to breach the peace.

Ohaa used the opportunity to thank residents for their peaceful conduct during Buhari’s second term inauguration on May 29, urging them to conduct themselves properly during the Democracy Day celebrations on June 12.

He reminded Abuja residents that the city would be playing host to foreign dignitaries during the Democracy Day, describing it as an opportunity to showcase the hospitality that Nigerians were known for.

Calling on them to keep their residences clean and be courteous to those they come in contact with, he especially asked motorists to obey traffic regulations.

The PS pledged the administration’s commitment to providing amenities that would add value to their lives.
