Fertiliser firm hails Wike for tackling soot

Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike

INDORAMA Petrochemicals Eleme in Rivers State has commended Governor Nyesom Wike for tackling the challenge posed by soot in the state.

He also said the firm bridges the gap in importation of fertiliser by supplying over 32 million farmers in the country and saved the Federal Government N7 billion it spends yearly on importation of fertilisers.

The Head, Corporate Communications of Indorama, Jossy Nkwocha, stated this, yesterday, during a facility tour of its petrochemical facility in Eleme.

The firm noted that it operates a closed system which does not allow strenuous gas to escape, maintaining that its operations do not emit soot in any way,

Nkwocha said: “We have a closed system and this closed system does not allow any strenuous gas to escape. We buy natural gas from either Agip or TotalEnergies and we don’t allow the gas to waste by flaring it.” He disclosed that the firm has employed over 7, 000 workers and contractors.
