FG begins erosion control project in Kogi
Federal government has embarked on flood control and reclamation of lands affected by gully erosion, to address the age-long ecological challenges in Dekina Council of Kogi State.
Immediate past Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Prof. Stephen Ocheni, had at the inauguration last May, said that the project was expected to check erosion and flood as well as improve the environmental condition of Dekina after years of neglect and untold hardship.
“This is also a testimony to the administration’s promise that no part of the country will suffer neglect owing to its geographical location or political consideration,” he had said. When The Guardian visited the site yesterday, it was discovered that work in Sabongari area of Dekina had commenced.
