FG has provided free meal for 8.96m school children, says Udoma

The Federal Government said it has provided free meals for 8.96 million school children under its Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja at a media briefing for the 24th Nigeria Economic Summit (NES#24), also said that over 297,000 poor and vulnerable Nigerians had been supported with cash transfer of N5,000.

Besides, he said that more than 308,000 loans of N50,000 and above had been successfully disbursed under the Government Enterprise Programme (GEEP) for entrepreneurs.

Udoma further stated that the Federal Government raised capital provision for agriculture from N8.8 billion in 2015 to N149.2 billion in 2018 budget to combat hunger and achieve food security.
