The Federal Government has concluded plans to execute contracts and agreements on flooding and erosion control entered into at national and international levels by the past administration.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, stated this at the commissioning of FHA Estate Erosion Control and Road projects at the Ecological Fund Office (EFO) in Lugbe, Abuja.

He said the project was aimed at providing culverts and reinforced concrete drainage to channel wastes and floodwater into safe place to protect lives and property in Lugbe Community.

The community had been experiencing hardship due to environmental degradation arising from flooding and erosion menace, which necessitated government’s intervention.

He commended the contractor, Masarki Nigeria Limited for ensuring timely and speedy completion of the project, and urged the people to avoid dumping refuse in drainages.

Responding, Permanent Secretary, EFO, Dr. Habiba Lawal, said the project was executed to check perennial erosion and flooding in Lugbe Community to prevent loss of lives and property.
