Young Nigerian filmmaker and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BXStudio, Jimoh Olaitan Mudashir, has urged governments at all levels to invest more in the country’s creative industry, saying young creatives have the talent and capacity to project Nigeria’s positive image on the global stage.

Mudashir said although the government has made efforts to support the entertainment industry, greater investment in funding, training, equipment, infrastructure and creative-friendly policies is needed to unlock the enormous potential of emerging filmmakers and artistes.

According to him, Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural resources and exceptional human capital, but these resources must be effectively harnessed to drive national development.

He also called for increased investment in the education sector, stressing that equipping young people with quality education and practical skills would enable them to compete favourably on the global stage.

“The creative industry has the power to shape perceptions, create jobs and contribute significantly to the economy. With the right support, young creatives can do even more to promote Nigeria positively across the world,” he said.

The Lagos State-born filmmaker, an indigene of Ojo-Ilemba Awori, said his passion for filmmaking began as a child actor before he decided to pursue a professional career behind the camera.

A graduate of the Kunle Afolayan Film and Television Academy (KAFTA), Mudashir recalled that spending time on movie sets at a young age sparked his love for storytelling.

“I fell in love with storytelling while working as a child actor. That experience made me realise filmmaking was what I wanted to do,” he said.

He credited his family for providing the encouragement and support that have sustained him throughout his career journey.

Mudashir completed his Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) in 2020, attended Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education between 2022 and 2024, and is currently an undergraduate at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

He specialising in Nollywood films and music video production, he said he is committed to producing stories that entertain, educate and inspire while reflecting Nigeria’s culture and addressing social issues.

Apart from filmmaking, Mudashir is an actor and model. He has worked alongside renowned entertainers, including Bovi Ugboma, Ibrahim Chatta and Ambassador Expensivehimself.

His production credits include serving as co-director on Inu Gin and acting in the Back to School series. He has also modelled for DXC Model Academy.

Mudashir described Canadian filmmaker James Cameron and Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan as his greatest inspirations, expressing his desire to collaborate with Afolayan in the future.

He also produces music videos for emerging and established artistes, saying he enjoys combining cinematic storytelling with music to create memorable visual experiences.

Speaking on the influence of technology, Mudashir said social media has transformed the entertainment industry by making it easier for creatives to showcase their work, build their brands and engage directly with audiences worldwide.

Outside work, he enjoys listening to music and unwinds by visiting the beach, where he finds inspiration in nature.
His philosophy of life, he said, is simple: “Success comes through hard work, consistency, and never giving up on your dreams. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and become better.”

He advised aspiring filmmakers and artistes to remain focused, continue learning and never stop believing in their dreams.

“Hard work and consistency will eventually open doors,” he said.
