Firm expands Fit & Max solution across home appliance categories at IFA 2026

LG Electronics

LG Electronics has expanded its Fit & Max Solution beyond refrigerators to washing machines, dryers and dishwashers, as the technology giant seeks to address growing consumer demand for space-efficient home appliances without compromising capacity, performance and energy efficiency.

The company is showcasing the expanded solution at IFA 2026 in Berlin, Germany, where the appliances are being presented in a dedicated Fit & Max Solution zone designed to replicate modern kitchen and laundry spaces.

The exhibition, which runs from September 4 to 8, demonstrates LG’s approach of combining installation flexibility and space-conscious design with enhanced capacity and smart features.
According to the company, the Fit & Max concept is built around two principles – “Fit Space” and “Max Life” – aimed at helping consumers make better use of increasingly compact living spaces while retaining the functionality expected from modern appliances.

LG said “Fit Space” combines installation flexibility with design innovation, allowing appliances to integrate more naturally into surrounding spaces. Product-specific door and hinge mechanisms, as well as installation systems, are designed to minimise gaps and unnecessary protrusion.

The “Max Life” element, on the other hand, focuses on maximising capacity, performance, energy efficiency and convenience within the available footprint.

For refrigerators, LG’s Fit & Max models combine Zero Clearance with its Thin Door design and a flat exterior, enabling the units to sit close to walls or adjacent cabinetry.

The refrigerators also feature Dual FRESHConverter+ and Full Convert Drawer technologies, providing up to three adjustable temperature zones for different food-storage requirements.
The company said its AI Fresh technology learns users’ patterns over a three-week period and uses the information to optimise cooling operations for more stable storage conditions.

LG’s expansion of the concept into laundry appliances is also aimed at helping consumers maximise available space. Its washing machines, dryers and garment-care solutions feature slide-in installation and flat, minimalist designs intended to align with surrounding cabinetry and reduce protrusion into rooms.

Despite their compact footprint, the appliances are designed to retain larger capacities through enhanced internal structures and precise Direct Drive motor-based inverter control, which LG said helps minimise vibration while maximising internal space.

The company added that AI Wash and AI Dry technologies detect load characteristics and automatically adjust cycle settings, helping to reduce the time, energy and attention required for laundry.

The Fit & Max concept is similarly applied to LG’s dishwashers, which feature flush-fit designs intended to maintain continuous lines across kitchen cabinetry.

The dishwashers include a one-hour Wash & Dry cycle and AI SenseClean technology, which detects the soil level of each load and automatically adjusts cleaning performance.

President of LG Home Appliance Solution Company, Baek Seung-tae, said consumers should not have to choose between appliances that fit their homes and products that deliver the required capacity and performance.

“Fit & Max brings these priorities together in one solution. By extending this approach across more appliance categories, we aim to make it easier for consumers to choose products that fit naturally into their homes while delivering greater value in everyday life,” he said.

LG said visitors to IFA 2026 would be able to experience the expanded Fit & Max Solution at its booth in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin, where refrigerators, laundry solutions and dishwashers are being displayed together.

The company’s latest offering comes amid growing demand for smarter and more efficient household appliances, particularly as consumers contend with limited living spaces and rising energy costs.

By extending the Fit & Max philosophy across multiple appliance categories, LG is positioning space efficiency, smart technology and everyday convenience as complementary rather than competing priorities in the design of modern homes
