Firm fetes 200 Olusosun households
Rack Centre, in partnership with United Way Greater Nigeria (UWGN), has through its Food and Health Drive, provided staple food items and hygiene packs to 200 vulnerable households in Olusosun Community in Lagos.
The distribution done in partnership with representatives of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) further emphasised the importance of community-driven collaborations.
It targeted households facing economic hardship, including the elderly, widows, scavengers and families with young children. The initiative was also part of a broader mission to combat hunger and promote sustainable development, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 2 (zero hunger) and SDG 3 on good health and well-being.
Executive Director of United Way Greater Nigeria, Deola Durodola, said the collaboration underscores the importance of addressing food insecurity, one of the most critical issues affecting our communities. She also thanked the collaborative effort of Rack Centre in tackling food insecurity in the community.
“We are grateful to Rack Centre for their support and commitment to improving the well-being of our communities,” she said. On her part, the Head of the Waste Management Research and Development Department at LAWMA, Bola Adewunmi, extolled the agency’s partnership with United Way Greater Nigeria to raise awareness about environmental health in communities. She stressed that such initiatives emphasise the importance of proper waste disposal and hygienic surroundings.
