To improve the health and well-being of inmates, members of staff of Cornerstone Insurance Plc. Foundation recently organised free medical outreach to Kirikiri Maximum and Female Correctional Centre, Lagos.

Addressing journalists during the outreach recently, Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Cordelia Ekeocha, said the outreach is part of the organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Ekeocha said: “We have done this in conjunction with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for motorists in previous years. This year, we considered extending it to Kirikiri Maximum and Female Correctional Centre inmates. We have our medical team of two doctors and four nurses from Sirona Hospital, Festac.

“We gave malaria drugs, Vitamin C, toiletries, toothbrushes, toothpaste, medicated soap, sanitary pads, sponges and bags of rice to the inmates.”

She said it’s a good way as a firm to help the inmates, even if it will only make a small impact on their lives.

Speaking in a similar vein, Head, of Financial Institutions, Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Eunice Ogboli, said, “because the inmates are here does not mean a death sentence for them. This is something we do often, aside from insuring lives and property. We decided to extend it to them so they can have some comfort during the festive period.”
