A non-governmental organisation, Dr. O. Yomi Sholoye Foundation, has empowered over 500 indigent persons with minibusses, tricycles, freezers, grinding machines, sewing machines among other working tools.

During the distribution of the items, the convener who doubles as the founder of The New Seraph, Dr. O. Yomi-Sholoye JP, urged the beneficiaries to make the best out of the golden opportunity.

“People have been asking me why I engage in charity, I simply reply them that giving people fish is cool, but there is no feeling that could be as good as teaching people how to fish. Imagine a world where I have enough, you have enough, we all have enough. Obviously,” she said.

It would be recalled that the foundation had in the past facilitated several poverty alleviation projects for women, alongside scholarships and business startup capital for youths. Sholoye disclosed that the purpose of the empowerment scheme is to add her quota towards helping the government alleviate poverty in society.

Spokesperson of the foundation, Olasunkanmi Ogabi, said the motive of the gesture was to ensure that beneficiaries start their own small-scale businesses to be self-dependent.
