Health and fitness experts in the French Embassy have called for increased awareness and education on physical health as an essential foundation for maintaining overall well-being.

This call was made at the fitness training organized by the French Embassy in collaboration with the French Institute in Nigeria and Paragonx. The event themed “Fitness Core – Paris 2024 for all” was held this Saturday in Wuse, Abuja.

Unlike every other fitness event, participants who were present had the opportunity to undergo a comprehensive health Checkup, amidst other fun-filled fitness experiences like “The Connecté Marathon for all”.

Speaking at the event, the Coopération Attaché at the French Embassy in Nigeria, Ketty Regis, disclosed that between 2023 and 2024, Team France’s budget for sports has surpassed €2M.

Ketty Noted that the event is also an opportunity for Abuja residents to have a feel of sport and the ongoing Olympics in Paris.

According to her, adequately exercising, having fun and getting health check-ups is an easier way to live a healthy physical and mental life.

She stated: “People are gathering here this morning to have fun, to enjoy, but also to think about their health. We have activities like dance, basketball, football, yoga, Zumba and other activities to make the experience even more enticing.

“The French embassy is involved in the youth and sports. Paris have hosts the Olympics and it ve been over on Sunday. The Paralympics ll start at the end of August and we ll stay mobilize. It is our way of enjoying the experiences in Nigeria with differents type of activities. ”

The lead partner of the event, Paragonx, Abayomi Gbenga Adewole reiterated that the event stands in solidarity with the ongoing Olympics.

Abayomi emphasized the need to give physical health the utmost priority for increased productivity.

“This was a deliberate move to show solidarity in some way as the Olympics in Paris is on. The whole experience was enjoyable, it was fun, it was interactive, and everybody went home more fitter than they came and more experience on how to be in better shape.

Fitness is not something you should punish yourself by doing, fitness is something you should do every day because your life depends on it, literally. So, eating right, staying active, and exercising, should be your utmost life choice,” he said.

Also, Shan Musty, one of the attendees, in his excitement lauded the French Embassy’s commitment to physical health programs.

He said: “This is highly commendable. I barely exercise regularly and effectively like I did today. An event that impacts physical health like this should always be encouraged.”
