Fubara urges security operatives to resist undue influence, extols Disu

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara

IGP lauds Mbah’s commitment to public safety, security

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged security operatives to remain impartial, resist undue influence and uphold professionalism in the discharge of their constitutional duties, citing the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as a worthy example.

Fubara said Disu demonstrated professionalism, balance and commitment to duty while serving in Rivers State during a period of intense political crisis, urging other security personnel to emulate his conduct.

The governor stated this yesterday when the IGP paid a courtesy visit to the Government House, Port Harcourt. The IGP was in Port Harcourt for a book launch on the ‘Origins of Police in Nigeria.’

Fubara said he was particularly pleased to receive Disu in his new capacity as the nation’s police chief, recalling that he had served in Rivers State during one of its most difficult periods.

He urged security personnel to remain focused on their constitutional responsibilities, regardless of political pressures or other external influences.

Meanwhile, the IGP, Disu, has commended Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for his commitment to public safety and security.

He lauded Mbah for sponsoring the refurbishment and repair of twelve operational vehicles, which were previously in deplorable condition, and for his continued efforts at improving security infrastructure in the state.

“This intervention represents a practical demonstration of visionary leadership, prudent resource utilisation and a genuine commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in Enugu State.

“Your Excellency, beyond this intervention, we acknowledge and commend your administration’s continued support for security infrastructure and other initiatives aimed at safeguarding life and property across the state. Your partnership with the Nigeria Police Force reinforces the understanding that effective policing requires strong collaboration between government, security agencies and the communities we serve,” Disu stated.

Speaking at the launch of the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Enugu State Police Command, he stated that several interventions by the governor had supported efforts to ensure reduction of crimes in the state.

Represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 13, Miller Dantawaye, he stated that the establishment of the VCRU reflects the leadership’s determination to strengthen the Force’s capacity to respond promptly and professionally to incidents of violence, threats to public safety and other serious criminal activities.
