The leader of the Fulani community in Kogi State, Alhaji Dauda Abdullahi, has disclosed that 30 criminally minded members have been handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) in the state in recent past.

Abdullahi made the disclosure at the inauguration of the “System and Structure Strengthening Approach Against Radicalisation to Violent Extremism Project in Kogi State’’, organised by Action Aid, in partnership with Participation Initiative for Behavioural Change in Development (PIBCID), yesterday in Lokoja, the state capital.

The Fulani leader indicated that they were in full support of efforts to rid Kogi of troublemakers and other undesirable elements. Explaining further, he indicated that as a group they have adopted a strategic approach to tackling the issue of insecurity in the state, including sensitisation and enlightenment programmes through commitment to the injunction of the Holy Koran, not to engage in violence.

The Fulani leader who spoke through an interpreter pointed out that their efforts were already yielding positive results, adding that more would be done to discourage the youths from participating in condemnable acts.
