The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Fasina, has given his award of stewardship, restating that the university has grown substantially under his administration.

Fasina stated this during his address at the 10th convocation ceremony of the university at the weekend.

According to him, the university not only became the fourth most subscribed to for undergraduate admission seekers, but also maintains a consistent climb in the ranking of Nigeria’s universities.

“Our achievements are encapsulated in the 20-point agenda and transformation of FUOYE, which we implemented between 2021, when I took over the leadership of the university, and to this day,” he said.

Fasina, whose tenure will end next Wednesday, also cited the achievements of his administration to include increasing the number of departments and faculties in the university, which now makes the student population of FUOYE exceed 60,000.

He similarly mentioned infrastructural development of the university to be among the towering accomplishments of his tenure, saying: “We began the Blue Roof Revolution in FUOYE, which is a landmark of our investment in infrastructure, all of which are roofed with the blue colour.”

The outgoing VC, therefore, expressed appreciation to the President and Visitor of the university, President Bola Tinubu, who was represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, for his unflinching support, which made it possible for FUOYE to attain its enviable position under his leadership.

He also congratulated his successor, Prof. Joshua Ogunwale, for emerging as the incoming VC of FUOYE in a highly competitive process.

Meanwhile, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the university, Victor Ndoma-Egba, in his address, paid special appreciation to Tinubu for his robust support to the university, and his administration’s revolutionary reforms in the education sector.
