Get some gift ideas for the wonderful woman in your life

IT’S the month of March, the month that celebrates women and mothers all over the world. It is Mother’s Day tomorrow and all our mothers deserve to be celebrated.

Everyone born on earth has a mother and if your mother is still alive, it would be wonderful to celebrate her this month. If you and your mother are not on speaking terms, you have a chance this Mother’s Day to mend your relationship with her.

We all know the sacrifices, efforts, sleepless nights, tears, pain, constant prayers that our mothers bear on our behalf and taking a day out in a year could definitely not repay those efforts but it would sure go a long way in saying thank you.

So many songs, poems and stories have been inspired by a mother’s love and devotion, with many still to come.

A good number of us have agonized over what to gift the women in our lives because we don’t want to recycle last year’s gifts.

Most males that were asked on what gifts to give preferred to give money. The females were more imaginative in their responses as most suggested perfumes, jewelries, spa treats and dinner at a posh restaurant.

Mr. Tony Adesanya puts it perfectly, saying “What I would like to give my mother on Mother’s day depends on what would be most valuable to her at that point in time, depending on resources.”

Love and Time
A lot of mothers are not even after material gifts. Some just want a little love, care and attention. This mother’s day, spend some of your time with your mother, really talking to her. Laugh with her; show her some love and attention. You would be surprised how grateful she would be.

Jewellery
It’s a bit cliché you might think but diamonds are a girl (and woman’s) best friend for a reason. I am yet to see any woman that has gotten tired of being gifted good jewellery.

Gift baskets
Step away a bit from the norm and give her a memorable gift basket. If you talk regularly with your mom, you would have an idea of things that she needs. Put them all together in a basket and watch her cry tears of joy and gratitude when you present her with it.

Flowers and perfumes
Flowers will never get old. Perfumes will always be relevant. There are so many flowers you can choose from that will express your love adequately. Pick a bottle of good quality perfume for your mother today.

A Day off
Most mothers never take a break from their daily grind.

Treat your mother to a well-deserved day off from her ‘mom duties’. Take her somewhere special, let her kick off her shoes and let her hair down. It could be a place you know she loves or could be something special you planned. Whatever the case, make it a memorable day.

Above all, remember to tell your mother “thank you” this Mothers Day. She is doing a full time job that is never complimented.
