Governor Nasir el-Rufai has urged the citizenry to move against those using religion and ethnicity to cause disaffection.Addressing the state’s Council of Chiefs and Emirs at their quarterly meeting, the governor said the Religious Bill initiated by his government took cognisance of security, peace and freedom by everyone to practise his or her faith without hindrance, stressing that his administration was poised for continuous peace and purposeful integration as a collective resolution.

El-Rufai then appealed to traditional rulers to preach peace to their subjects for the development and growth of the state, adding that human life was sacred and government would do its best to protect lives and properties.

“People are using religion and ethnicity to divide people to achieve political and several interests. We must work hard and ensure that forces of disunity and confusion fail. We must continue to stand up and nip in the bud all attempts to divide Nigerians along ethnic and religious lines. The human life is sacred and as a government, we must do our best to protect lives and properties,” he assured.
