GOC orders troops to prosecute war on Boko Haram with vigour

Brig.-Gen. Bulama Biu, Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Nigerian Army, has ordered troops of Operation “LAFIYA DOLE” to prosecute the war on terror with diligence, vigour and aggression.

Biu gave the order in a statement signed by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Texas Chukwu on Monday in Maiduguri.

Chukwu quoted Biu as having given the order during his visit to the troops at Firgi, Pulka, Gwoza, Banki, Konduga and Alau Dam on Friday.

Chukwu said the acting GOC engaged the soldiers in a heart-to-heart interaction during the visit at their fighting locations.

“The acting GOC also addressed wide range issues bordering on discipline, equipment and welfare, “ he said

He said Biu commended the troops for their operational readiness and assured them of regular visits and engagements while on the battlefronts.

Biu also called on them to confidently prosecute the fight against Boko Haram terrorists with “diligence and alertness”, assuring them of additional equipment to handle the assignment.

“Your welfare is also constantly addressed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Burutai, the acting GOC said.

Biu assured them that promotion was being processed for qualified soldiers and urged them not to be distracted by social media activists and mischief makers but remain disciplined.

The acting GOC also urged the troops to be resilient, dogged and work hard to combat the insurgents.

He also assured them that soldiers that spent the mandatory period in the war theatre would be rotated promptly, in line with the army directives.

Biu disclosed that permission had been granted for routine leave and passes to enable them visit their families, in line with the exigency of duty.

The acting GOC was received in Gwoza, Pulka and other locations under the 26 Task Force Brigade by the Brigade Commander, Brigm.-Gen Sanusi Dahiru, who conducted him round, among others activities.

The acting GOC was accompanied on the visit by Commanders and Principal Staff Officers of 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, the Director, Army Public Relations, said.
