GoFundMe account set up for Atiku’s suit against Buhari, INEC
#EndSARS campaign convener, Segun Awosanya said a GoFundMe account has been set up for the legal suit of the 2019 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, against the Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission.
“Here is the official GoFundMe link for people interested in supporting the defense of HE @atiku’s mandate in a credible Court of Law. You can donate here,” Awosanya said on Twitter on Wednesday.
Abubakar in the February 23 election, lost to the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
After the result of the presidential election was announced, Abubakar called the election a sham and rejected the result and said he will challenge it in court.
Abubakar decried the militarization of the electoral process, the ‘statistical impossibility’ of states ravaged by the war on terror generating much higher voter turnouts than peaceful states, and the suppressed votes in PDP strongholds.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, the former vice president lost the election with more than a three million vote margin.
The former vice president claimed he would have called the victor within seconds of his being aware of his opponent’s victory if he had lost in a free and fair election.
Part of Atiku’s moves to counter the election has begun as he filed for access to all INEC materials used to conduct the presidential election before the tribunal on Tuesday.
Abubakar and PDP filed the ex-Parte application before the Presidential election petition tribunal seated at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
The motion filed by the PDP candidate and the party seeks to get permission to the database of the smartcard readers and all the election materials for audit.
However, the crowd funding account which was launched on Tuesday, 5th March has raised about $832 by 16 people out of its $100,000 goal.
In the bio of the account, it is stated the PDP candidate supporters “strongly believe that there is enough evidence to discredit the process and upturn the results as announced by INEC.”
“Our Call to Action is therefore simple: to put our money where our votes went and deal a decisive blow against tyranny and rigging by donating freely to support the case against INEC and the ruling APC.”
