Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has directed all commercial tricycle (keke) and minibus owners and operators in the state to work towards completing the ongoing free digital registration exercise being conducted by the State Ministry of Transport.
Governor Eno stated this during the July Government House Monthly Prayer Service in Uyo, saying the initiative is aimed at improving security , ensuring accountability in the transportation sector, and from August, commuters should easily identify drivers operating commercial vehicles in the state.
The governor also announced that the state government will soon commence free internet services at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo to enhance the experience of travelers and visitors.
On environmental sanitation, the Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining a clean environment, stressing that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise would be strictly enforced, with restriction of movement during the exercise.
He further hinted that the state’s Social Register would be updated to accommodate more vulnerable residents and enable them benefit from the government’s food distribution programme.
Similarly,Umo Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare, security and living conditions of the people of Akwa Ibom State and prayed for continued peace and progress in the state.
