Government Obiano extols Bishop Ikeakor at 50

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra has described the Bishop of Diocese of Amichi, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor as a good shepherd whose preaching transcends denominations.

Obiano said this at the thanksgiving service to mark the 50th birthday of Ikeakor held at the Cathedral Church of St. Andrews Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area on Sunday.

He said that Ikeakor was a good friend who had kept touch with developments in the state and supported the administration with his prayers.

Obianor expressed happiness that he was able to be part of the celebration of a man who had dedicated his life to the service of God.

“I welcome you all, feel free to move around and see our state; by the grace of God, Anambra is the safest state in Nigeria today.

“I enjoin you to see the state and our changing capital of Awka with our good roads and flyovers,’’ Obiano said.
The governor commended all the dignitaries present at the thanksgiving; especially those visiting from outside the state.

In his remarks, the former Minister of Power and Chairman of the event, Prof. Chinedu Nebo described the celebrator as a “dogged, determined, committed and purposeful man of God’’.

“He is acknowledged as a teacher and the word of God burns luminously in his heart. Fifty years is not fifty days, that is why we celebrate him today,” he said.

‎Responding, Ikeakor thanked the governor for the good work he was doing in the state.

He expressed delight at the presence of the governor among other dignitaries who came to honour and celebrate with him.

“Your excellency, I thank you for being with us in this service from beginning to the end.

“God will bless you; God will surprise you and guide you in your endeavours.
“I know how tight your schedule is, but you chose to join me today in this celebration. I am grateful,” he said.

The high point of the celebration was the unveiling of ‎an eleven chapter book entitled; “The Careless Children of Fearless God” written by the celebrator.
