Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Tuesday, inaugurated the newly rehabilitated and re-equipped General Hospital in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area. The hospital, which serves Kauran Namoda and its neighbouring communities, has been outfitted to deliver high-quality healthcare services.

In a statement from the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was noted that the facility has been equipped with modern medical diagnostic tools, delivery beds, ECG machines, centrifuge machines, blood mixing devices, an automatic haematology analyser, an electronic weighing system, and an LED theatre operating lamp, among other advanced equipment.

The statement underlined the crucial role of general hospitals in Zamfara State in delivering advanced medical care that is both accessible and affordable to the population.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Lawal reaffirmed that his administration is committed to revitalising the state’s ailing infrastructure and tackling challenges across various sectors of the economy. He highlighted that health is a key focus of his administration’s transformation agenda, which is built on six strategic pillars, with health being the third priority after education and security.

Lawal stated, “Our goal in revitalising hospitals is to ensure that quality healthcare services are readily available to our people, regardless of whether they reside in rural, urban, or semi-urban areas.”

He further explained that this approach prompted the government to renovate and rehabilitate dilapidated health centres, particularly in crucial towns like Kaura Namoda, which acts as a healthcare hub for surrounding communities.

Reflecting on the progress made during his tenure, Lawal added, “In the past 14 months, we have made substantial improvements in the health sector by investing in the renovation and upgrade of hospitals and primary healthcare centres across Zamfara State.”

The Governor also revealed that plans have been finalised to recruit and train additional health workers, procure essential medicines and equipment, and introduce free maternal and child health services across the state.

“These initiatives are aimed at improving health outcomes for our citizens by reducing maternal and infant mortality rates, as well as lowering the incidence of diseases across Zamfara State,” Lawal noted.

He assured the public that the inauguration of the newly rehabilitated hospital demonstrates his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every resident, irrespective of their location, status, or income, has access to quality healthcare services.

The Governor also detailed the scope of the project, which included the complete renovation of the hospital, the installation of a 32 kW solar power system for steady electricity, 25 streetlights, and the provision of essential medical equipment.

“With the successful completion of this facility, I am confident that the people of Kaura Namoda and the surrounding towns and villages will now have access to affordable and high-quality healthcare services,” Lawal concluded.
