Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has congratulated the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, on his re-election to serve another four-year term.

Director-general of the NGF, Asishana Okauru, yesterday in Abuja appreciated Wabba’s efforts towards extricating the average Nigerian worker from the shackles of poverty.

According to Okauru, the NGF and the NLC may have crossed paths in an unsavoury manner in the past, particularly regarding the national minimum wage, but that their dispute should not be construed to mean that they are adversaries.

“Both the NLC and the NGF are agents of change, who at that material time found themselves on opposing sides of the national minimum wage divide”.

But we are both motivated by the same altruistic desire to serve our country in the most responsible way and to ensure that Nigeria does not drift into an economic abyss from where it would be hard to retrieve, as we are partners in progress,” he added.

Okauru further stated that “while the NLC president works hard to better the lives of the Nigerian worker at all levels and strata of government, the NGF strives to create a new and conscious citizenry, leadership and government at the subnational level. This means that we are both working towards the same objectives.”

He whished Wabba well and urged him to deliver on his mandate as he did in his first tenure.
